The President of Russia visited the Nikolskoye Cemetery at the Alexander Nevsky Monastery. President Putin laid a bouquet of dark-crimson roses at the monument to Anatoly Sobchak. Mr Putin could not attend the unveiling ceremony due to the tight schedule.
The President’s friends and ex-colleagues from the Mayor’s Office of St Petersburg and university gathered around the grave. The President talked to Anatoly Sobchak’s widow and greeted all those who attended.
Vladimir Putin also laid flowers at the grave of Galina Starovoitova.
