“First of all, I want to say that I greatly appreciate the warm welcome I received just recently in hospitable Uzbekistan”, Mr Medvedev said in his message. “It was a great pleasure to visit Samarkand and Tashkent and see with my own eyes Uzbekistan’s achievements in the economy, industrial and social development, and state-building. These accomplishments are convincing evidence of your reputation as an experienced and influential statesman, who works tirelessly to strengthen your country’s potential and bring greater prosperity to its people.
The agreements reached at our recent productive talks will give powerful new impetus to further development of our mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation and our strategic partnership and alliance. I place great importance on consistent implementation of these decisions that open a new page in the traditionally friendly relations between Russia and Uzbekistan.
I am sure that our regular trusting exchange of views and the intensive political dialogue we carry on at all levels will contribute to building up the close ties between our countries and serve the interests of peace, stability and progress in the Central Asian region”.
