A news conference following Russian-Kazakh negotiations.

At a news conference following negotiations with President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, the Russian head of state pointed out that the two countries had reached a high level of economic co-operation, and said he was in favour of further co-operation in the information, transport and communications spheres.

When speaking about the steps required for this, Putin called for an end to all bureaucratic barriers. Moreover, the President said that there were no political reasons to delay the delimitation of the Russian-Kazakh border, while he also expressed his satisfaction with progress in the delimitation of the Caspian Sea.

The Russian and Kazakh leaders discussed interaction in the space exploration sphere and the effective use of the Baikonur space centre.

A number of joint documents were signed following the talks.
