Mr Putin stressed that Russia needed a strong Ukraine and Ukraine needed a strong Russia. Such states could be and should be strategic partners and faithful allies, Mr Putin said.
We are celebrating the 350th anniversary of the Pereyaslavl Rada. Its decisions laid the foundation for the reunion of the Russian and Ukrainian peoples. This greatly influenced relations between Russian and Ukraine and the development of the two countries, the Russian leader noted.
The ceremony ended with a concert dedicated to the 350th anniversary of the Pereyaslavl Rada.
