During his meeting with Duma leaders, the President summed up the results of the parliament’s work over the past ten years. He said that the State Duma had passed major laws essential for carrying out the necessary reforms in all spheres of state activity.
Vladimir Putin underlined the need to develop the country’s legislation in the economic, financial and social spheres. Participants in the meeting included Duma speaker Boris Gryzlov, first vice-speakers Lyubov Sliska and Alexander Zhukov, vice-speakers Georgy Boos, Vyacheslav Volodin, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, Valentin Kuptsov, Vladimir Pekhtin, Dmitry Rogozin and Artur Chilingarov.
The meeting was also attended by Gennady Zyuganov, leader of the KPRF parliamentary party, Gennady Seleznev, deputy co-chairman of the inter-parliamentary group, Gennady Kulik, chairman of the Duma committee for agrarian issues, and Yekaterina Lakhova, chairman of the Duma committee for women, the family and youth.
