Mr Putin found the work of the previous Government satisfactory, on the whole, and his decision was prompted by his desire to specify his stance on Russia’s development after March 14, 2004.
The President intended to offer a nominee for Prime Minister to the State Duma on the agreed upon schedule.
The Prime Minister would make his suggestions to the President concerning the new structure of federal executive agencies within a week of his appointment.
