While exchanging opinions on relevant problems of bilateral relations and international issues, Vladimir Putin and George Bush expressed satisfaction with their level of interaction. They noted that there were real possibilities to step up coordinated efforts, especially on issues of major importance for both countries and the world, such as the fight against international terrorism.
Speaking about international issues, Mr Putin and Mr Bush discussed the development of the situation in Iraq. They stressed the need to consolidate the international community’s efforts aimed at ensuring stability in Iraq and restoring its sovereignty. They also mentioned the UN’s effective work there.
Also, President Bush briefed President Putin about the results of Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili’s recent visit to the United States.
