The President said that the support he has received is an important resource and that those who gave him their vote have made a choice in favour of the positive changes that have taken place over recent years and the progress seen in the country’s economy.
Mr Putin explained his high score in the election as being a result of his ”hard and honest“ work during his first four-year term in office.
The President recalled that when he became President four years ago, he pledged to work honestly and in this, at least, he has kept his word. Mr Putin said he is grateful to those who appreciated this and gave him their support by voting for him on March 14.
The President also thanked those who ”simply sympathised“, but who, for whatever reason, did not vote.
