The Justice Minister briefed the President on the progress of the reform of the penitentiary system, in particular the work to improve the conditions of the inmates. More attention is to be paid to social rehabilitation and adaptation of ex-convicts, the Minister said.
Yury Chaika also briefed the head of state on the current reorganisation of the Justice Ministry: the central staff is being cut by more than a third, and the number of structural divisions will be reduced from 26 to 9.
