President Putin and Mr Yanukovych discussed the formation of a common economic space, interaction between Russia and Ukraine in the fuel and energy sphere, relations between the two countries in the Azov-Kerch area, and the prospects of ratification of inter-state documents.
Vladimir Putin proposed holding Russian-Ukrainian inter-governmental consultations with the Presidents of the two countries taking part, noting that such a format of consultations made it possible to review bilateral cooperation, map out guidelines for work and monitor the execution of key decisions.
The Russian Prime Minister, Mikhail Fradkov, also took part in the meeting.
