The amendments extend the period during which charges must be brought against people detained on suspicion of committing such crimes as terrorism, drawing people into terrorist crimes or complicity in the perpetration thereof, hostage taking, organising or participating in an illegal armed unit, racketeering, attempt on the life of a government or public figure, seizure or holding of power by force, armed mutiny, sabotage, and attacks on persons or organisations under international protection from 10 to 30 days.
