During their talk President Putin said that the Russian authorities were doing everything to restore the unity of the Russian Orthodox Church. However, under no circumstances would the state interfere in internal church affairs.
The President noted in particular that for Russia the process of reunification of the Russian Orthodox Church was more than just an inter-religious process, but also a symbol of the revival and reunification of the Russian people.
