The President congratulated Vladimir Pronichev, head of the FSB Border Service, and all his personnel on Border Guards Day, and proposed to discuss the situation on the state border and the task of developing the border.
Vladimir Pronichev briefed the President on measures being taken to develop the state border in all areas, including in the south, where the political situation poses the biggest threat to the country’s security.
Work is underway to build modern complexes to secure the southern border. Ten such complexes have already been built, and a further 71 are planned.
Vladimir Pronichev also said that a training center for border guards was being created in the North Caucasus. Such centers will use state-of-the-art technologies, including communication technologies.
The Director of the Federal Security Service (FSB), Nikolai Patrushev, assured the President that all the targets regarding the border development would be met on schedule. Funds are made available fully and in a timely manner, Nikolai Patrushev said. The Russian regions are also contributing to the work to develop the borders, he said.
Vladimir Pronichev added that 14.8 billion rubles had been earmarked for the development of the border and that funding this year, like in the previous year, was being provided without delay.
