The President visited the Troitsky archaeological dig in Novgorod, where he examined an exhibition of archaeological findings; he also visited the Varlaam- Khutyn Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Saviour.
Mr. Putin also visited the Tikhvin Monastery of Our Lady, where recently the Tikhvin icon of the Mother of God was returned after 60 years abroad.
