Alu Alkhanov informed Vladimir Putin about the socio-economic situation in the republic. He said that compensation payments were a particularly sensitive issue. Vladimir Putin called on the Chechen leadership to continue focusing on paying compensation to people who had lost their housing. Mr Putin supported a proposal to use funds from Chechen oil exports to reconstruct the republic. At the same time, the head of state urged the Chechen leadership to monitor closely how these funds are used if the plan is adopted.
