Present at the meeting were Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev, Prosecutor General Vladimir Ustinov, Federal Security Service Director Nikolai Patrushev and Border Guards Service Director Vladimir Pronichev. The security agency heads informed the President about the measures taken in response to the hostage crisis.
During his flight back to Moscow, Mr Putin spoke by telephone with President of North Ossetia Alexander Dzasokhov, who informed him on the situation.
Mr Nurgaliyev and Mr Patrushev flew to Beslan immediately following the meeting.
