The President stated that during the hostage tragedy all possible different scenarios were examined but there were no plans to liberate the school by force.
One of the terrorists’ aims was to foment interethnic hatred and set off an explosion of violence in the North Caucasus. The President said that everyone who gives in to this kind of provocation will be seen as accomplices in this act of terrorism and supporters of the terrorists.
Mr Putin told the federal and local authorities to do everything possible to help the victims of the terrorist act in Beslan.
The meeting was attended by President of North Ossetia Alexander Dzasokhov, First Deputy Director of the Federal Security Service Vladimir Pronichev, Emergency Situations Minister Sergei Shoigu, Deputy General Prosecutor Sergei Fridinsky, Commander of the 58th Army General Sobolev, head of the Federal Security Service for North Ossetia Valery Andreyev and North Ossetia Interior Minister Kazbek Dzantiyev.
