At a meeting of the Presidential Commission for Military Technology Cooperation with Foreign States, President Vladimir Putin stressed that the main requirement for Russia’s policy in this sphere is effectiveness, while observing the country’s political interests and strictly ensuring security interests.
Over 50 of the world’s countries buy weaponry and military equipment from Russia to ensure their security and carry out peace-keeping operations under the aegis of the UN. Work with several of these countries has specific features which dictate the necessity of conducting a balanced and far-sighted regional policy, Mr Putin noted.
President Putin thinks it is necessary to separately examine security problems of military and technical cooperation, including the anti-terrorist dimension.
