The President Vladimir Putin of Russia and his South Korean counterpart Roh Moo Hyun had an eye-to-eye conversation and then they held talks at an enlarged format. They discussed varoius issues of bilateral cooperation. The leaders also focused on some important international and regional problems (situation in the Korean peninsula, North Korea nuclear dossier, security issues in North-East Asia and in the Pacific).
Following their talks the leaders of two countries approved a Joint Declaration which sets out the key areas of political, economic and humanitarian cooperation between Moscow and Seoul. Russian and Korean ministers also signed a package of intergovernmental documents on partnership in the energy sector, transport, the aviation and space industry, natural resource development, and telecommunications.
