At a meeting with the heads of Russian regions and Chinese provinces, President Vladimir Putin noted the positive dynamic of development of bilateral trade ties. The task has been set to treble the volumes of Russian-Chinese trade by 2010.
At the same time, President Putin said, not only a growth in quantity is important. Economic relations between Russia and China must reach a fundamentally new level.
It is necessary to change the structure of mutual trade by activating mutual investment, deliveries of goods with a high level of added cost, and science-intensive production.
In connection with this the President said that Moscow values the decision passed in Beijing to invest $12 billion in the Russian economy over the next decade and a half. New possibilities in Russian-Chinese economic interaction will be provided by the completion of bilateral talks on Russia’s entry into the WTO.
