Veterans took part in the ceremony on Glory Square. Several of them were wearing red ribbons with the names of hero cities.
The Presidents honoured the memory of those killed in the Great Patriotic War with a minute of silence. The national anthem of Ukraine was played, during which six volleys were fired from automatic weapons. Then a company of the honorary guard marched before the Presidents, composed of representatives of all the types of troops.
During the ceremony, a long garland of carnations and fir branches was laid by the monument, covered with ribbons in the colours of the national flags of all four countries.
