The first winners of the Joint award were Italian director Franco Zeffirelli and Director the Pushkin State Museum of Art Irina Antonova.
The Joint award was established in November 2003 and is awarded to Russian and Italian citizens, and also organisations for special services to the development of bilateral relations.
Before the award ceremony President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi held bilateral talks.
