Accompanied by Governor of Irkutsk Region Igor Esipovsky, the plant’s CEO and vice president of IRKUT Corporation, Alexander Veprev, and the head of United Aircraft Corporation Alexei Fyodorov, Mr Medvedev visited the assembly workshops, inspected the cockpit of a Su-30MKI fighter plane, and spoke with the plant’s workers.
Irkut Corporation is engaged in the design, manufacture, sale and post-sales service of military and civilian aircraft.
The Irkutsk Aircraft Plant produces various versions of the Su-30MK Multi-role Combat Aircraft – the Su-30MKI for India, the Su-30MKM for Malaysia, and the Su-30MKA for Algeria, as well as the Be-200 Multipurpose Amphibious Jet. Under a contract with AIRBUS, the plant has begun producing components for the Airbus А320, and work is also scheduled to begin on converting the Airbus А320 passenger plane into a freight plane.
