The text of the message reads:
“I am certain that your rich political experience will allow you to effectively carry out the important mission entrusted to you by the Palestinian people in the interests of swiftly realising their hopes to create their own independent state which co-exists with Israel in peace and security.
“We are prepared for close cooperation with you in the interests of further development of the traditionally friendly Russian-Palestinian relations, in order to achieve fair Palestinian-Israeli regulation on the basis of the “road map” and the resolutions of the UN Security Council, which will turn the Middle East region into a zone of mutually beneficial cooperation and economic prosperity.”
Vladimir Putin invited Head of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas to make an official visit to Moscow.
The message to Mahmoud Abbas was delivered by the Russian deputy minister of foreign affairs, Aleksandr Saltanov.
