The Russian and Azerbaijani peoples each have their own unique life and heritage but have always felt an interest for each other and have always been important to each other, Mr Putin said.
The President noted that the political, economic and cultural dialogue between the two countries is developing actively. The partnership between Russia and Azerbaijan is a significant factor for regional stability.
Russia is in favour of the closest possible cooperation with Azerbaijan and senses that its Azerbaijani counterparts share this same desire, Mr Putin said.
