Opening the meeting, Mr Putin proposed discussing reform of the Commonwealth of Independent States, work on building the Common Economic Space and the Eurasian Economic Community.
Mr Nazarbayev, for his part, reported on the work of the Common Economic Space High-Level Group, which has already approved 17 draft laws needed for organising interaction within the Common Economic Space.
Among the other items proposed for the meeting’s agenda were Russian-Kazakh economic cooperation, particularly in the energy, machine-building and metals sectors, the upcoming CIS summit this May and preparations for celebrating the 60th anniversary of victory in World War II.
