Mr Putin’s message of congratulations reads, in particular:
“Passover symbolises gaining freedom and receiving the Ten Commandments that continue to define lofty moral ideals for people of different faiths today. The holy books of Judaism, Christianity and Islam all relate the historic events surrounding the emergence of this holiday.
In our country of many different nationalities and religions, the followers of different faiths care for and build on our centuries-old traditions of living together in peace and as good neighbours – traditions founded on enduring moral values. I am convinced that only together can we strengthen civil peace and concord in our country and firmly oppose anti-Semitism and all other manifestations of xenophobia and nationalism.”
