Russia considers Egypt to be one of the worthy candidate for a UN Security Council permanent seat, the statement reads.
Russia and Egypt welcome positive progress in the Palestinian-Israeli track of Middle East regulation and call for full realisation of Palestinian-Israeli agreements reached at the summit in Sharm-al-Sheikh on 8 February 2005 in the interests of a full discussion process.
Both sides are also in favour of ensuring a leading role of international intermediaries – Russia, the European Union, the U.S. and the UN – in advancing the peace process in the Middle East.
In the document, Moscow and Cairo oblige themselves to closely coordinate their efforts to achieve a universal fair and stable peace in the Middle East on the basis of corresponding resolutions of the UN and other international agreements.
Russia and Egypt expressed their adherence to preserving the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq.
The statement decisively condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
The two sides also cooperate in the war on trans-national organised crime, legalisation of criminal income, and illegal trafficking of drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors. With these goals, they will contribute in every way possible to activating contacts between the appropriate departments.
The two sides confirmed their plans to increase mutually profitable trade and economic and scientific and technical cooperation, especially in the sphere of energy, production and transport of oil and gas, investment cooperation, high technology and other areas.
