Vladimir Putin congratulated Anthony Blair on his birthday and on the victory of the Labour Party in the parliamentary elections.
Mr Blair thanked Mr Putin for his congratulations, and at the same time expressed his deep regret that owing to intense work on forming the new Cabinet of Ministers he would be unable to come to Moscow to take part in the 60th anniversary celebrations of Victory.
The Russian President was understanding of the reason that Great Britain could not be represented at the level of the new head of the Cabinet of Ministers.
During their conversation, Mr Putin and Mr Blair also discussed the schedule of contacts in the near future before the G-8 summit in Great Britain in July this year.
