Cooperation with its international partners is the future of the Russian aerospace industry, declared Vladimir Putin at the opening of the 7th International Aviation and Space Salon (MAKS-2005).

The President noted the great, intellectual potential for domestic aircraft construction, and foreign aviation companies' heightened interest in the air show. Representatives of 654 enterprises from 40 different countries participate in MAKS-2005.

The head of state examined the pavilions of the largest aviation companies, and familiarized himself with the latest developments in Russian and foreign aviation technology and weapons systems.

At MAKS-2005, in the presence of the Russian head of state, “Russian Defence Exporters” and the Indian corporation “HAL” signed a contract regarding the licensed manufacturing of aircraft engines.

The President supported the project to found a specialized, international exhibition and demonstration centre in Zhukovsky, and to apply the law on special economic zones.
