Speaking at a press conference following talks with Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt, President Vladimir Putin said that increasing the number of participants in the Northern European Gas Pipeline would make the project more balanced and stable.
The gas pipeline project will increase Europe’s energy security by diversifying transport possibilities and reducing the end cost for natural gas, Mr Putin said.
The President noted that Russia’s position proceeds from Europe’s need to create favourable conditions for its economic development.
