President Vladimir Putin at a reception marking the Day of National Unity said, that Nizhny Novgorod elder Kuzma Minin’s appeal for the people to “stand together as one” fully reflected the Russian national character’s greatest qualities. The Russian people has always known how to rally together be it in times of peace or of war, has always nurtured and cherished the traditions of mutual help and been ready to share and respond to the sorrows and need of others, Mr Putin said.
Among those invited to the holiday reception at the Kremlin were people whose charity activities are of great importance for Russia today.
Russian business’s active and interested involvement in charity programmes indicates its growing sense of civil and social responsibility and is a sign that the principles and traditions of business ethics are undergoing a revival, the President said.
