Talking with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

After holding discussions one-on-one, Mr Putin and Mr Singh continued their talks in expanded format. The prospects for bilateral business cooperation were the first topic of discussion. Primarily, this refers to sectors where there is great potential for cooperation such as energy, telecommunications, space exploration and transport infrastructure. The Russian President and Indian Prime Minister paid special attention to the necessity of increasing the magnitude and the diversification of trade, and to stimulating mutual capital investment.

The talks concluded with the following documents being signed in the presence of the two leaders: an Agreement between the Federal Space Agency and the Indian Space Research Organisation on cooperation on the Coronas-Photon project in the area of solar physics and solar-terrestrial relations; an Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of India on measures to protect technology during long-term cooperation in joint development, operation and use of the GLONASS global navigation system for peaceful purposes; an Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of India on mutual protection of intellectual property rights in bilateral military-technical cooperation.

Following their talks, Mr Putin and Mr Singh made press statements and answered journalists’ questions.
