Speaking at the First Plenary Session of the Public Council at the Kremlin, President Vladimir Putin noted that the Council’s members will have the task of creating effective channels of communication between public organisations and the state authorities. The main objective of this work is to increase the public’s influence and the influence of public institutions on the state.
In this work it is important that respect for public opinion and for the interests of each individual become a key factor for making work at all levels of state power more effective.
The President said he hoped that the Public Council would become a forum for discussing and coordinating views on major state policy issues and that this would serve as a basis for forming genuinely democratic instruments of cooperation between the public and the state and its organisations.
