The President considers that Russia's leading international position in wood exports is the result of an extravagant attitude to one of the country's natural resources.
The head of state ordered ministers to get rid of all contradictions within the new Lumber Code. In addition, Vladimir Putin emphasized the need to perform structural transformations within the wood industry and to create favourable investment conditions.
The President also suggested developing measures to struggle against illegal wood treatment and noted that this is an international problem.
Earlier on, while visiting in various companies involved in the lumber industry, Vladimir Putin got to know the full cycle required for lumber preparation.
