Alexei II talked about preparation for the world summit of religious leaders that will be held in July of this year. The Patriarch pointed out that many heads of Orthodox churches, representatives from Catholic churches, six cardinals from the Vatican, and representatives from the Islamic world have answered the invitations.
Alexei II also told the President about the World Council of Russian People that was held not long ago.
Before meeting with the Patriarch the President signed a decree On Awarding a Order of Friendship to Metropolitan Nikodim of Kharkov and Bogodukhov for his important contribution to strengthening the spiritual ties between the peoples of Russia and Ukraine.
The Patriarch was the first person the President told about this decree.
