The message reads in particular:
“Over these years the Council has become an important link in the CIS’ system of inter-state bodies and an effective instrument for coordinating the work of the Interior Ministries in the partner countries. You have made these achievements possible by not only using modern forms and methods of joint work but also by drawing on of a rich experience of professional cooperation tried and tested by decades of working together.
Today it is important to combine the potential we have and to intensify our work in every area, in consolidating law and order and combating cross-border crime, drugs trafficking, international terrorism and extremism. I am sure that closer cooperation between the law enforcement agencies in the CIS, a constant exchange of information and the holding of joint operations will help us to effectively resolve the tasks at hand.”
The message was read by Russian Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev at the Council’s session in Tajikistan on April 2006.
