Mr Medvedev and Mr Berdymukhamedov discussed prospects for cooperation in the energy, electricity, agriculture, telecommunications, and transport sectors, and in various humanitarian fields.
During an exchange of views on international issues, the two Presidents expressed support for an international conference in Ashgabat in April this year on reliable and stable transportation of energy sources to the world markets, and also spoke in favour of continuing consultations and talks on the Caspian Sea.
The two heads of state adopted a joint declaration following their talks. A package of documents was signed in the presence of the two Presidents, including intergovernmental agreements on encouraging and protecting investment, organising direct rail-ferry links between Caspian Sea ports, mutual recognition of diplomas, and cooperation agreements between the two countries’ ministries for internal affairs and agriculture, and prosecutor-generals’ offices.
The presidents of Russia and Turkmenistan also made statements to the press.
