The President’s message of congratulations reads in particular:
“The Easter holiday brings joy and hope to millions of Russians and strengthens belief in lofty spiritual ideals.
On this day we cannot but recognise the work of the Russian Orthodox Church and of other Christian traditional churches aimed at preserving peace and harmony in our society and resolving the social problems we face today. It is pleasing to see that religious organisations are actively involved in much-needed and important work to consolidate the influence of family values in our society and provide a moral education to the young generation.”
The President attended the midnight Easter service at the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow.
