To celebrate the anniversary the head of state invited the heads and members of the Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company to Bocharov Ruchei. The conversation took place over a cup of tea in the President's residence.
At the meeting they discussed the struggle against corruption. Vladimir Putin declared that the latest resignations and changes within the customs agencies are the result of a long and purposeful study by law enforcement agencies, first and foremost by the FSB and customs' own internal security services. And that the struggle against corruption should not be limited to the field of customs procedures.
Vladimir Putin also talked about preparing the latest Presidential Address to the Federal Assembly. The head of state reported that a number of decisions contained in the Address were made by him personally, since he was not able to reach a consensus with Cabinet Members.
In addition, the President promised to support a candidate in the 2008 Russian presidential elections. But the final decision must be taken by the citizens of Russia, the President emphasized.
