From year to year increasingly favourable conditions are emerging in Russia for the development of the mass media, President Vladimir Putin said at the World Newspaper Congress. One of these conditions is overall economic development.
Mr Putin noted that the media’s development is not determined only by the state, which sets the legislative rules, but also by the position taken by the journalists themselves and by the economic organisations financing publications.
Increasing the public’s trust in the mass media can be achieved by striking a balance between the interests of journalists, business, the state and society and making the press more professionally and socially responsible.
