Vladimir Putin called Nursultan Nazarbaev and warmly congratulated him. During the discussion the heads of state also discussed the schedule of forthcoming Russian-Kazakhstan summit meetings.
In addition, the President of Russia sent the President of Kazakhstan a written greeting that reads, in particular:
“Your rich political experience and your constant efforts towards developing the alliance and strategic partnership between Russian and Kazakhstan has won the sincere respect of the Russian people. Over many centuries our people have been linked by strong traditions of friendship and good relations. And it is thanks to your energetic efforts that these invaluable traditions are getting stronger and being enhanced today.
I highly value the relations based on trust and mutual understanding that have developed between our countries. Our regular meetings and interesting exchange of opinions allow us to dynamically increase our multifaceted bilateral cooperation. And our harmonious approaches towards resolving regional problems helps promote integration within the CIS, the Eurasian Economic Community, the Collective Security Treaty Organisation and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.”
