Vladimir Putin also expressed his hope that he will soon meet the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliev, in Moscow.
The Russian head of state met with Vasilii Istratov before the latter departed for Baku.
Vasilii Istratov was appointed Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan on 29 May 2006 by presidential decree.
