President Vladimir Putin of Russia and President Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan sign joint declaration on expanded cooperation as regards the development of the Karachaganak deposit at their bilateral meeting during the G8 summit in St. Petersburg.
The two Presidents signed a joint declaration on developing long-term cooperation in processing and selling gas from the Karachaganak gas field.
Mr Putin and Mr Nazarbayev instructed the two countries’ governments to create a joint venture based at the Orenburg Gas Processing Plant to process 15 billion cubic metres of gas from the Karachaganak gas field in Kazakhstan.
Mr Nazarbayev was invited to the G8 summit as current President of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
