Mr Putin and Mrs Merkel discussed the crisis situation in Lebanon. Following on from the results of the G8 summit in St Petersburg, they stressed the need for the international community to take coordinated action to normalise the situation in the Middle East and noted the UN Security Council’s role in this respect.
