The Presidents of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan gathered in Bocharov Ruchei, the residence of the Russian head of state. The President of Armenia, whose country benefits from observer status at the organisation, was also invited to this informal meeting.
Vladimir Putin warmly welcomed the summit guests at the residence’s entrance.
At the end of the working dinner Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov and Ukrainian Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich joined the leaders of the EurAsEC countries.
On 16 August the EurAsEC leaders will continue talks in a working session. The creation of a customs union, discussing strategies and tactics for developing the Eurasian Economic Community, cooperation in the energy sector, hydroelectricity regulation in Central Asia, increasing cooperation between the EurAsEC and the CSTO, and the possibility of Uzbekistan joining the CSTO are all topics on the agenda. The heads of state will also discuss cooperation between the EurAsEC and the WTO and the prospects for states members of the EurAsEC to accede to the WTO.
