Speaking at the evening ceremony celebrating Defenders of the Fatherland Day, Vladimir Putin emphasised that only strengthening national defence capacities and maintaining a modern army can guarantee the security of Russia and its citizens. The head of state cited equipping the army and the navy with the newest examples of military equipment among the government’s main priorities.
Vladimir Putin recalled that further increases of servicemen’s allowances are planned and that measures are being taken to accelerate the process of providing officers with accommodation, qualified medical aid, and to perfect the system of military education.
