The federal law ratifies the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the European Union on Readmission, signed in Sochi on May 25, 2006.
Under the terms of the agreement, the parties will establish effective procedures to detect and return individuals who fail to meet or no longer meet requirements for entry to the territory of the Russian Federation or the territory of any one of the European Union member states, or who are in breach of requirements for presence or residence in the countries concerned.
The agreement is evidence of Russia’s serious commitment to combating illegal immigration and will provide solid grounds for concluding similar agreements with other countries.
