The President’s message reads, in particular:
“Your respected forum traditionally brings together reputed academics, philologists and linguists from many different countries. The forum provides a good opportunity for strengthening research and education partnerships and discussing a broad range of professional subjects, the most important of which include preserving the Russian language and making use of its potential as a language for international communication.
There can be no overestimating the importance of the work done by Russian studies specialists to open up to people the rich world of Russian culture and history and help them get to know the diverse landscape of Russian life today. I am sure that your noble work will continue to help promote and spread the Russian language and develop international cultural and social cooperation. In this respect, I hope that you will play an active part in the wide-ranging programme of events held to mark Russian Language Year”.
