In a telegram of congratulations, the President said, in particular:
“This holiday commemorates events that took place long, long ago, when the Jewish people were freed from slavery and received the ten commandments, which have become part of humanity’s common heritage and form the foundation of the moral values and rules that we all share.
The Passover traditions symbolise a commitment to these unshakeable moral laws that is handed down from generation to generation, constituting an inalienable part of the Jewish people’s historical and cultural heritage.”
